Important Notice Regarding HID TEXTILE SERVICES USB Drivers

Please note that, at this time, the HID TEXTILE SERVICES USB drivers are unsigned.

Since these drivers require access to the Windows kernel, Windows mandates that all such drivers be officially signed. Any driver lacking a valid Microsoft signature will be blocked from installation.

Prerequisites for Successful Installation

  1. No IT policy restricting access to the Windows 10/11 Advanced Boot menu.

  2. No security software installed that may interfere with driver installation, such as:

    • Sophos Safeguard

    • BitLocker

    • Other similar endpoint protection or encryption tools

  3. On Windows 11, with the latest updates, you may need to disable Memory Integrity under Core Isolation, and then turn off Driver Signature Enforcement in order to install the drivers.

If any of these conditions apply to your PC, please contact your IT department to temporarily disable the relevant policy or software before proceeding with the installation

How to install HID Textile Services USB drivers

  1. Connect the reader to the PC

  2. Open  Device manager

  3. Right click on the product’s name and choose "Update driver"

  4. Choose “Browse my computer…”, then “Let me pick from a list of drivers… ..”, then “All peripherals”. It will search and offer a list of manufacturers (1).

  5. Search for FTDI in the list and select “USB to serial converter” (if it complains of a risk that this is not the right driver, proceed ahead anyway). It installs, and then a second device “USB Serial port” will appear without a driver notified by a warning triangle.

  6. Finally, repeat the procedure but choose “USB serial port” at the end.

(1) If in Step 4, you do not see the FTDI manufacturer listed:

  1. Download the official FTDI VCP (Virtual COM Port) drivers from the following page:

  2. Choose the appropriate driver based on your processor type and operating system.

➤ Select the file named ftdibus.inf.
