Impinj Item Test enable to test any Impinj Reader (R420, R220, R700…) and also to make preliminary tests of a ePortal based on R700 or a UDoor Lite (based on R420) and its outputs (blades, red and green leds, magnet)
Impinj Item Test 2.7 Installation
(can be installed on any computer or Surface GO Tablet) :
Duiring installation you may be asked to install .NET
In this case, choose Desktop X64 Version
Impinj Item test 2.7 usage
#1 - Computer <> RFID reader physical connexion:
To test an RFID reader or station, connect the computer DIRECTLY to the RFID reader as shown below (not through the local network)
For information, Impinj R700 reader is POE powered : Impinj POE Injector is used as power supply :
Connect the network (or the computer in case of direct connexion) to “IN” RJ45 plug
Connect the R700 to “OUT” RJ45 plug
When the computer is connected directly to the reader, Impinj Item test will be able to discover and connect automatically to the reader.
The computer and the impinj reader must both be set in Dynamic IP adressing (default)
In these conditions, the RFID reader will take its backup fallback IP address = 169.254.1.1
To check if the computer is set in dynamic adressing : after connecting the computer to the reader,
Type Windows Key+R, then type “cmd” then enter
type the command “ipconfig”
For the Ethernet Adaptor, the line IPV4 address should mention “Autoconfiguration” and start with 169.254 as illustrated above. Then it’s OK switch directly to #2.
If not the case, for instance if the result is as illustrated below:
Then your computer needs to be changed to dynamic adressing : click on the network icon of the task bar (bottom right), then click on the LAN connexion (top of the list, not the Wifi connexions that may also appear)
On the next page click on Network and Sharing Center
then click on the Ethernet connection, properties,
Click on TCP/IP V4 parameters
select “obtain an IP address automatically”
Click on OK and close the pop ups : your computer is now set in Dynamic IP adressing
#2 - Access the RFID reader with ItemTest software:
Double click on the ItemTest icon to launch the software
Click on + close to DATA SOURCES in the left frame of the screen
Click on the + close to “Add a data source”, and allow acces if you are requested to :
The ItemTest Software will find automatically the reader and show it in the right frame (online data sources).
Click on the reader found (ex : SpeedwayR-11-C5-10) to select it
Click on ADD DATA SOURCE to connect to the reader : it is then added to DATA SOURCES on the left frame of the screen.
Click on the reader in this left frame to access its settings page
Test one by one each antenna connected to the reader:
In Manual Settings frame, select antenna 1 only, adjust RF Mode and click on SAVE
Then in the left frame click on INVENTORY, and then on the triangle (below )to start the reading
The triangle goes Green as reading is active, and the screen shows the list of tags read by the reader
Antenna column shows the antenna on which the tag was read (should be 1 if only antenna 1 is selected)
Click on the square (below) to stop the reading
If the test is succesful on Antenna #1, then click on the reader on the left frame to change its settings
Select antenna 2 instead of antenna 1 and proceed the same way to test antenna 2… then antenna 3, then antenna 4
(On a UDoor Lite Cabin): test the LEDs, blades, and magnets:
Click on DIAGNOSTICS
To activate the blades, select GPO 1
you should hear clearly the blades motors : check that blades are rotating correctly for each of the 2 sides of the cabin
To activate the red LED, select GPO2
To activate the green LED, select GPO3
To activate and check the magnet (that holds the doors closed) select GPO 4
